Nobles transferring to Jackson State
Former Arkansas guard Julysses Nobles plans to finish his college basketball career back home at Jackson State.
Nobles, who started 28 of 32 games for the 18-14 Razorbacks last season and averaged 8.7 points and had a team-high 99 assists, told Jackson, Miss., television station WDBD, Channel 40, that he is transferring to Jackson State. Arkansas announced after last season that Nobles was leaving the program. He will have to redshirt at Jackson State this season, then will have one season of eligibility remaining as a fifth-year senior.
“A lot of schools called, but I wanted to be close to home, close to my family,” Nobles told WDBD.
Nobles came to Arkansas from Jackson Callaway High School. He played in 91 games in three seasons for the Razorbacks with 54 starts and finished with career averages of 7.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
