— A lockdown has ended at a Pittsburgh psychiatric clinic where authorities say two people have been fatally shot and seven others wounded.

Still, officials at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center have asked that people avoid the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic while the investigation continues.

Gunfire erupted at the clinic Thursday afternoon, killing two people and injuring seven others Thursday afternoon. Medical Center spokesman Paul Wood says police report one of the dead was the gunman.

Wood says it’s unclear whether the wounded people were patients, employees or visiting family members.

Lockdowns are also over at UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside, two university hospitals nearest the clinic.
