— A coroner in eastern Arkansas says a former Helena mayor has died of an apparent accidental gunshot wound.

Phillips County coroner Earnest Larry says former Helena Mayor Robert Miller was apparently cleaning a weapon when it went off. Authorities discovered his body at his home in Helena-West Helena on Thursday.

Larry says there’s no autopsy planned and that the body is being released to a funeral home.

Larry says he didn’t know what kind of weapon Miller was cleaning or when the gun went off.

Miller’s former administrative assistant Diane Tyler says Miller served as mayor of the Mississippi Delta city of Helena in the early 2000s.

No autopsy, Larry? You don't know what kind of gun it was, but you say there is no autopsy needed, Larry? I smell a BIG rat!

Does anyone know when an autopsy is required by law in AR? I knew of a case where a man's wife, late 40's in age, NO known health issues suddenly dies during the night. He's regarded well in the community and again there was NO NEED for an autopsy. Cremation was really quick and within a year he had re-married. Maybe nothing at all, but it always seemed sort of curious that an autopsy wasn't required in a situation like that.

After finding that all the police force in Helena is corrupt, I don't believe Mr. Miller shot himself accidentally. This is all a big cover-up!

Idiot. This is the reason dems want guns outlawed.

All we had to see was "HELENA-WEST HELENA " to know this is really a "crime in progress".
