— Federal officials say two Kansas-based soldiers from South Carolina and Arkansas have been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said Sunday that 24-year-old Sgt. Channing B. Hicks of Greer and 23-year-old Spc. Joseph A. Richardson of Booneville, Ark., died Friday in the Paktika province.

The soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Officials say the men died from injuries they suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.

    Yes LSS

It is sad that these two young men lost their life in a land that is not a threat to the United States and the real reason why our soldiers are still there is a mystery.

I just got thru reading about the U S policy of destroying afghan villages if the residents didn't give the exact location of IEDs in their village.

I don't know if you have ever read about "The Afghan Convoy to Death". This happened before 9/11 and involved the American Special Forces involvement. If you are not aware of that just google it and read up on how immoral the Afghans have been treated. This involves the surrender of the Taliban to the Northern Alliance where thousands of those that surrendered we locked in the backs of 18 wheeler trailers and left their to die. Several survived and were taken out into the desert and shot to death.

Things like this is why those people hate us and are happy to see our soldiers die.

We need to get out of there.

Sorry cliffcarson - I feel NO remorse towards muslims after watching the twin towers fall, after watching Americans beheaded and drug through their streets, after watching them kill their own daughters for simply wanting an education or by merely 'looking' at another male, after attending my brother-in-laws funeral who was killed in Iraq by an IED. Nope. No remorse. The US should pull our soldiers out of ALL muslims countries, and leave them to kill each other over the dirt they call a country and their evil religious beliefs.
