Fordyce woman killed after car strikes bridge

— A Fordyce woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when she lost control of her car and it crashed into a bridge abutment, authorities said.

Karen R. Daniel, 55, was driving a 2004 Chevy Cavalier south on Arkansas 229 north of Fordyce when she lost control in a curve about 4:40 p.m., according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report.

Police say the Cavalier left the road to the right and then continued south, striking the bridge and coming to a rest in the middle of the highway.

Daniel was dead at the scene.

Daniel was the 370th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures from the state police.
