KKK flyers left in Memphis driveways

— Peace advocates are denouncing the distribution of Ku Klux Klan flyers around greater Memphis.

The Commercial Appeal reports people around the Mid-South opened their doors Friday to find the flyers left in driveways inviting people to join the organization.

Jacob Flowers, the executive director of the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center, said the community has responded to “small acts of hate” with “great acts of love.” He said the flyers have caused neighbors to unite against the KKK.

Despite concerns from the community after the flyers were found, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chip Washington said the distribution is legal and would not prompt any action.
