Driver killed after car veers off road, hits bridge

— A Hartford man was killed Sunday when his car ran off a Sebastian County highway and struck a bridge, authorities said.

Arkansas State Police say 21-year-old Matthew D. Davis was driving a Chevy Camaro south on Arkansas 45 near Arkansas 252 about 1:30 p.m. when the car veered across opposing lanes and into a ditch.

According to a preliminary report, the Camaro then struck a concrete bridge, spun around and came to a rest in a creek embankment.

Davis died from unspecified injuries.

According to the report, the conditions were clear and dry at the time.

Davis was the eighth person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
