Words of wisdom from an unlikely place... PRAVDA:

For those of us fighting for our traditional rights, the US 2nd Amendment is a rare light in an ever darkening room. Governments will use the excuse of trying to protect the people from maniacs and crime, but are in reality, it is the bureaucrats protecting their power and position. In all cases where guns are banned, gun crime continues and often increases. As for maniacs, be it nuts with cars (NYC, Chapel Hill NC), swords (Japan), knives (China) or home made bombs (everywhere), insane people strike. They throw acid (Pakistan, UK), they throw fire bombs (France), they attack. What is worse, is, that the best way to stop a maniac is not psychology or jail or "talking to them", it is a bullet in the head, that is why they are a maniac, because they are incapable of living in reality or stopping themselves.

The excuse that people will start shooting each other is also plain and silly. So it is our politicians saying that our society is full of incapable adolescents who can never be trusted? Then, please explain how we can trust them or the police, who themselves grew up and came from the same culture?

No it is about power and a total power over the people. There is a lot of desire to bad mouth the Tsar, particularly by the Communists, who claim he was a tyrant, and yet under him we were armed and under the progressives disarmed. Do not be fooled by a belief that progressives, leftists hate guns. Oh, no, they do not. What they hate is guns in the hands of those who are not marching in lock step of their ideology. They hate guns in the hands of those who think for themselves and do not obey without question. They hate guns in those whom they have slated for a barrel to the back of the ear.

January 10, 2013 at 11:21 a.m. ditto head, try Japan look at their gun homicide rate as oposed to the US, and no one is talking about banning this is just NRA right wing nut spin comming out of the top a&&hole of someone who does not know the meaning of fair and balanced.

Every gun owner in this country should read the post by FairAndBalanced quoting PRAVDA!! Those points are 100% accurate. The anti-gunners in Washington and elsewhere are not interested in us regular folks unless we are their subjects (slaves). They are interested in controlling us. As for myself, I am no man's slave nor will I ever be. Disarming the citizens is their goal and unless we wake up they will succeed!

Andrew Cuomo said confiscation was possible; the dumba** Democrats are going to try to use this issue to their advantage and they are going to screw it up big time. Both parties do this when they get too big for their britches.

Me and my partner both joined the NRA night before last. We did it while all the liberal news media were hyperventilating over poor, brain damaged Giffords. Piers is the rudest and most arrogant "news" (propaganda) person I have seen this week. Rachel has the biggest adam's apple of any "woman" I have ever seen. Least you think I did an ad hominum on those two liberal propagandists, I am merely returning a tit for their attack dog tats.

Sure, Mr. Smith, and you also move a mountain one rock at a time. Socialists know that they cannot immediately "ban" guns, but they have to start somewhere, and those "assualt rifles" as they refer to them is a place to start moving that first rock. It's not about guns, it's about freedom. Even if the discussion is not about guns, the same principle is happening in our country everyday, the masses are being duped into trading freedom for supposed security one step at a time. Keep giving them more "benefits", but tell them what they must do to be eligible and be good little pawns. Soon the federal government will be telling you when and where you can go, what you can eat, and what you must do, or else. Don't believe it? Look at the soda law in New York as a perfect example. The next step will be to "ban" the sale of soda.

You also want to compare Japan with the US, without considering cultural differences. It is true Japan's homicide rate is lower than the US. But their suicide rate is double ours, even without guns. Why?

You are obviously the typical liberal/progressive/socialist type that cannot and will not think, or wants to provide for, or defend himself. In your mind, that's the government's job. This is obvious because you immediately resorted to name calling when someone has expressed a different opinion than yours, as you guys always do. I guess this "utopia" that YOUR politicians promise you is what you and your type really want. Don't say we didn't tell you so when you get there.

Also, this is not a Democrat or Republican issue, I see one side that is nearly as bad as the other. It is an issue of who makes the choices, the individual or the government.

You can proceed to call me names now.

I can predict what Billy Boy will say. He will blame it all on the Republicans then if there is something he disagrees with that is true he will say its a Fox News lie. It's people like him that make Fox News so successful.

To say any effort to put limits on gun ownership is going to lead to all guns banned is like saying if they make me stop at a stop light it will lead to my car being taken away. There is some reasonable middle ground that should be the target of both sides.

Thank you, RonalFos, for a sane comment. The paranoia of some others is astonishing.

I agree Ronal, but to make new laws just to make everyone feel better, will accomplish nothing. Look at cities like Chicago and D.C. I remember a few years ago they changed the name of Washington Bullets to the Capitols in order to curb fun violence. I would like to see the numbers since that ingenious idea.
