FAYETTEVILLE — Authorities in northwest Arkansas have arrested a woman accused of posing as bluegrass performer Allison Krauss as part of a scheme to dupe an elderly man out of thousands of dollars.

The Washington County sheriff's office said Wednesday that they started investigating after bank employees called them in April to say a 75-year-old customer was making unusual withdrawals. They were concerned he was being taken advantage of.

Jail records show 52-year-old Sue Evers is charged with felony exploiting an endangered or impaired person and other counts. She was booked Wednesday morning and has a June 14 court appearance set. There was no information on whether she has a lawyer.

Fayetteville television station KHOG reported that investigators say the victim's bank balance has fallen by $40,000 since February.
