Southern Arkansas' school mascot, a mule named Molly B, passed away Tuesday, the university announced in a news release.
The mule that stood as the school's mascot for more than 20 years was 26. The Muleriders first used Molly B as its mascot in 1993, and she was seen at sporting events ever since.
To honor the mascot, the school announced that every future mule mascot will assume the name Molly. SAU has already named Molly B's successor, Molly Ann, who will take over as the Muleriders' mascot in the fall.
A memorial service for Molly B will be held at noon Thursday, March 14, on the SAU farm road.
