SEARCY — Harding University has opted out of a state law that allows faculty and staff members to carry concealed guns on campus.

Harding spokesman David Crouch says the private school already has a no-weapons policy in place in campus. He says the school's board of trustees voted to continue that long-standing policy and not allow any weapons on campus.

Crouch tells The Daily Citizen that the policy is in effect for Harding's campuses in Searcy, North Little Rock, Rogers and Memphis.

The board made the vote after the university's Faculty Welfare Committee, Department of Public Safety and another school committee recommended opting out.

Several Arkansas colleges and universities have opted out of the new law, passed this year by the Legislature.

The law applied to state institutions only. Harding is a private university and is not required to opt-in or out. They may make their own policy.

What did anyone expect? Universities are bastions of liberal thought and ideas. I'm not sure they are the ones who voted for those guys.

Universities are clearly pockets of people who are better at using their heads than the general population. It isn't surprising that they would vote not to follow the herd into an old west mentality.

Breaking news the house votes for the 37th time to repeal Obamacare. AND
WASHINGTON — Since the recession ended four years ago, the federal budget deficit has topped $1 trillion every year. But now the government’s annual deficit is shrinking far faster than anyone in Washington expected, and perhaps even faster than many economists think is advisable for the health of the economy.
That is the thrust of a new report released Tuesday by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, estimating that the deficit for this fiscal year, which ends on Sept. 30, will fall to about $642 billion, or 4 percent of the nation’s annual economic output, about $200 billion lower than the agency estimated just three months ago.

The agency forecast that the deficit, which topped 10 percent of gross domestic product in 2009, could shrink to as little as 2.1 percent of gross domestic product by 2015 — a level that most analysts say would be easily sustainable over the long run — before beginning to climb gradually through the rest of the decade.

So the gop/gun nuts resort to name calling by calling them "Liberals"
What they call EVERY/ANYBODY who disagrees with their position.... would be funny if it were not so sad....
One day just maybe these folks will come to find out that the gop/nra continues to dangle the bible in front of them like a carrot in front of a horse. But, once they get your vote, they continue to make policy that hurts average hard working citizens while enriching their corporate overlords with more and more corporate welfare entitlements.
Maybe one day, you will stop being their suckers....
