A 27-year-old man was shot in the arm during a fight with a group on a Pine Bluff street, authorities said.

It happened about 10 p.m. Monday as Christopher Washington walked east on 23rd Street near Hazel Street, the Pine Bluff Police Department said in a news release.

Police say six or seven "young males" walked up to Washington before one of them pulled a shotgun. Washington and the gunman began fighting and then the rest of the group joined in, the release said, noting that Washington was shot in the arm as he ran away.

The group fled, and its members have not been located.

Washington was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound and a dislocated shoulder. His condition wasn't known.

Police ask anyone with information to call the agency at (870) 730-2090 or (870) 541-5300.

When will all this non-sense stop?

The violence in Pine Bluff is nearing a need for an outside intervention. The local police and government clearly need assistance. Its a shame because thugs have ruined what use to be a great community. Its not an all black problem. Plenty of white meth heads causing plenty of chaos too. Check out the mugshot websites.
I grew up there and it makes me sad how Pine Bluff has turned out.
