SYDNEY — The bodies of eight children, aged 18 months to 15 years, and a wounded woman were discovered in a home in northern Australia on Friday, police said.

Police in Australia do not typically name suspects. Police did say they do not believe a killer is at large and that they were talking to the woman, who was found stabbed in the chest. She is believed to be the mother of seven of the dead children, police said.

The eighth dead child is also believed to be related to the 34-year-old wounded woman, Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar said. The woman was receiving treatment for her injuries and was in stable condition at a hospital.

Queensland state police said they were called to the home in the Cairns suburb of Manoora on Friday morning after receiving a report of a woman with serious injuries. When police got to the house, they found the bodies of the children.

Asnicar declined to say how the children died.

Well there you go then. I apologize. Since someone killed someone else with something other than a gun I guess that means there is no reason at all to have any restrictions on anything - especially guns.
Your arguments reflect your screen name.

my screen name is taken from my families old farm name which reflects only that i came from a farming family.
no need to apologize as long as you understand that even with all guns off the street evil people will still find ways to do evil things.

Bear's argument about a gun being used allowing the man to kill a 60 year old and 82 year old faster was beyond ludicrous. Those 2 ladies were going to die one way or another unfortunately. Heck he could have just laced their coffee with cyanide or antifreeze. The way LR is going though I feel like I need to own a gun, but I get to leave this place next year, thank God!

Sad that when I heard of someone murdering multiple children, my mind did not go to guns, but instead to wondering if this was another Muslim extremeist.

The Part about Guns was to make a statement as to the ease of getting a Gun, Guns will be the first choice to Kill most of the time. In a Rage it is easy to kill with a gun, without a gun, plans have to be made to kill, giving time to cool off and change minds about killing. That was the whole point about guns being too easily Acquired, Gun Nuts grabbed it and ran rampart. I was not saying without a gun there would be no killing, I am saying without so many guns there will not be as much killing. Children finding Loaded guns and start playing with them and someone gets shot. Or the Person taking Guns to School to kill teachers and other students. If all gun owners were responsible there would be no problem, but that is not the case, The Problem is Too many accesable Guns, Too Many Deranged Gun Nuts

Bear, the same damned thing can be said about all things that kill people, including monkey bars and bicycles. Your "without guns there would be no gun murders" is a logical fallacy.

Hey 3rdWorld - In case you haven't noticed, there already exists in America countless "restrictions" on gun ownership and possession. SMH.
Hey BEAR - OK, you are correct. Too many guns is the problem. Tell us your solution. Make sure your solution would have absolutely prevented that deranged man from using a gun to kill his mom and grandma. If you have no such solution, STFU!

bear, please explain how easy it is to get a gun. then also explain how easy it is to get ammo. then explain why it is easy to kill while driving drunk but we still allow repeat offenders to drive. also explain why we don`t give mental test before allow someone to drive? by your thought process that would eliminate road rage.we the people restrict someone convicted of a nonviolent crime from ever owning a firearm but we will let someone who has killed while driving drunk a liscense to repeat thier crime.

Yawn - same old, same old. With just a little searching (or to use the term googling as a verb) one can find any number of statistics that reflect that countries with greater gun restrictions than the U.S., have less gun deaths per capita than the U.S. Why does that cause so much heart burn with certain people?

Yes, people still die and some still die via a gun, but the numbers are right there for your 5 second search. Just like the "Land of the Free" has more people per capita in prisons than many other countries around the world.
