Last week might have been the best weekend for movie openings we’ll see all year, with the fabulous Inside Llewyn Davis, Her and Lone Survivor. Then there’s this week.

Call it the January doldrums or whatever, but studios didn’t think it was in their interest to screen Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Ride Along or Devil’s Due for our critics — so if you’re interested in any of these, you’d probably better plan on seeing them soon, before they evaporate. (Though check back in a month or two for the DVD verdict.)

But we do have an interview with the Coen brothers, who might just be America’s best active filmmakers, Karen Martin’s Home Movies column and yet more 2013 Top 10 lists from interesting, informed observers.
