WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will sign an executive order setting the minimum wage for workers under new federal contracts at $10.10 an hour, the White House said Tuesday. The president will announce the increase during his State of the Union address.

The increase from a national minimum wage of $7.25 an hour will not affect existing federal contracts, only new ones. Moreover, contract renewals will not be affected unless other terms of the agreement change.

The order would be one of the biggest examples in the State of the Union of Obama's vow to use presidential authority to push for policies by circumventing Congress.

This "leader" just becomes more and more anti-Constitutional. He and his Gestapo are the ones our Founding Fathers were trying to protect our nation against. Unfortunately, too many people are more interested in TMZ, the Grammys and gay "marriage" to notice or even care how far this country has strayed from its founding...UNDER GOD, I may add.

This doesn't really do much, does it. Lots of "look at me" and not much substance. You are looking at the maximum effect of "Executive Power". The worst hit is from the EPA, where Obama is waging a war against the coal producing states. What a lying hater he a republican congress and finish hogtieing this apostasy.

Chitlins, also known as Chitterlings, are a Southern standard and South Carolina favorite. You might even call it Soul Food...

Good job there theriously; you also used cleaver instead of clever in another thread so I think you should stop while you are behind.

Anyone know the basis for $10.10? Why not $20.10? Sadly, it will likely cost more to police the new requirement than what will actually be paid in additional wages. NoUser asks a most relevant question.
Alas, the proposal is red meat to the useful idiot base, nothing more and nothing less. The added expense to government contracts, and consequently to the taxpayer, is likely a very, very small percentage of the total spent for such purposes. Are you demorats ashamed yet?
