A parole absconder is accused of trying to steal meat from a Little Rock grocery store.

Little Rock police say Herman Harrison, 55, was taken into custody after he was "observed shoplifting meat" from the Kroger at 1100 E. Roosevelt Road.

"Mr. Harrison had a very rude and disrespectful manner about him during the incident," police noted in an arrest report.

A separate incident report indicated a security officer had seen Harrison "conceal and leave the store" with two large packages of bacon valued at nearly $37.

He faces charges of theft of property and possessing instruments of crime. According to the arrest report, he had two glass pipes with unspecified residue on them when he was arrested.

Harrison was also being held on warrants out of Little Rock and North Little Rock and he was listed as an absconder by the Arkansas Board of Parole. Online records show Harrison is on parole through 2026.

Harrison remained in the Pulaski County jail Friday morning with bail not yet set. A court date is set next Friday.

Very rude? Well, this is not exactly "Man bites dog", now is it ADG?

Perhaps he wanted to go back to prison? Kroger has so many security cameras on its meat counters that IMO only stupid criminals go there; he ain't the first Kroger meat thief whose arrest appeared in the ADG, and he almost certainly won't be the last. Or maybe he thought all the cameras were on the steaks so he went for the bacon?

$37 for two packages of bacon is the real crime here.

This story tells me two things here: 1. He obviously was not on food stamps 2. He can't find a job to feed himself. Heck, I have a good job and I cringe every time I go to the meat isle.

the story tells me 2 things. 1- he traded his food stamps for crack or weed (pipes with resdue?) 2- he does not have a job because he can`t pass a drug test.
