3 police agencies tout mobile apps

Three police departments in central Arkansas are preparing to roll out separate mobile applications designed to let residents better connect with the law enforcement agencies.

The Jacksonville, North Little Rock and Benton apps, touted as a first in central Arkansas, will let users find information on current jail inmates, sex offenders and missing children; let them submit photos or video tips anonymously; and will offer emergency messages and alerts from the departments, among other features, the agencies said.

The apps will also let the departments push out crime and safety information to specific neighborhoods or regions, the departments said, and let residents connect with the departments via social media.

The Jacksonville and Benton apps are free, and available for Apple and Android phones or tablets. The North Little Rock app is still in development and will be available in July, the departments said.
