Five Alamo properties fetch $78,000 at auction

TEXARKANA -- Five properties formerly owned by Tony Alamo have been auctioned off to partially satisfy a civil judgment against the imprisoned evangelist.

About 40 people attended the public sale Thursday on the steps of the Miller County Courthouse.

The Texarkana Gazette reported that the sale included four properties in Fouke: Alamo's personal residence, the church, a gymnasium and another property.

A fifth property in Texarkana also was sold.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward satisfying a $30 million judgment for Seth Calagna and Spencer Ondrisek, two former Alamo followers who were abused as children in Alamo's ministry.

Attorneys representing the sale said most of the properties had been damaged.

The five sold for prices ranging from $2,000 to $30,000 -- with the church fetching the highest amount.

Total sales for the day were $78,000, the Texarkana Gazette reported.

Two additional properties will be auctioned off next month by the state.
