Body found in river identified as Texas woman

FOUKE — Authorities have identified a body found in the Sulphur River in southwestern Arkansas as that of a Texas woman who was last seen in December.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that the state Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock used dental records to identify the body as that of Elizabeth Ramsey of Texarkana, Texas.

Ramsey was last seen Dec. 17 at her home. Her vehicle was found days later at the Wright Patman Lake spillway, which feeds into the Sulphur River.

Miller County sheriff's deputies recovered the body Wednesday after it was spotted by fishermen in the river about nine miles south of Fouke.

A cause of death was not released, but Bowie County, Texas, Chief Deputy Jeff Neal told the newspaper that there were no signs of foul play.
