1st Bike/Walk Summit pedals toward history

On opening weekend for its new exhibit “Different Spokes,” the Old State House will host the potentially historic first Bike/ Walk Arkansas Summit.

Presented by the state’s still nascent statewide coalition of cycling advocacy organizations, Bike/Walk Arkansas, the summit attendees are invited to a private reception Friday night for the museum exhibit. Then from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, their agenda will include speakers, break-out sessions, a catered lunch, panel discussions, group rides and walks on the River Trail and in Burns Park, wrapping up with a party on the OldState House lawn.

Attendance is limited to 150 and registration, which costs $25, ends today at bikewalkar.org.

CYCLOFEMME

Women attending the summit are also invited to the Central Arkansas Cyclofemme ride between 2 and 5 p.m. Sunday.

This annual group ride will depart Murray Park Pavilion 2 at 2:30 p.m. for an hour-long no-drop, social tour with routes available for road and off-road riders of all levels, women only. Registration is not required, and any women cyclists are welcome to join in.
