The Arkansas Department of Health is allowing same-sex couples to be listed as the parents on birth certificates after a judge struck down the state's gay marriage ban.

A spokesman for the department said Monday that two gay couples have already sought to both be listed as parents on birth certificates issued by the state. Kerry Krell said the department is asking the couples to fill out the same paperwork they'd ask a heterosexual couple to fill out to add a second parent.

Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza on Friday ruled that the 2004 constitutional amendment and 1997 law banning same-sex marriage were unconstitutional. Dozens of same-sex couples have been married since his decision. The Health Department was one of the defendants named in the suit.

It is in the child’s best interests that he be raised under the influence of his natural father and mother. This rule is confirmed by the evident difficulties faced by the many children who are orphans or are raised by a single parent, a relative, or a foster parent.

The unfortunate situation of these children will be the norm for all children of a same-sex “marriage.” A child of a same-sex “marriage” will always be deprived of either his natural mother or father. He will necessarily be raised by one party who has no blood relationship with him. He will always be deprived of either a mother or a father role model.

    Same-sex “marriage” ignores a child’s best interests.

Its a disgrace to allow someone with no birth ties equal rights as parents who conceive the child naturally. Arkansas will go up in hell without a f2f as chamber! Pizza needs his ass whipped...

They should be given the same rights as heterosexual couples who use a sperm donor to have a baby. In that case, if the non-biological parent is on the birth certificate then homosexual couples should have the same right.
