Faulkner County filing for disaster unemployment aid ends

The filing period for residents seeking disaster unemployment assistance after last month's deadly storms is ending.

Claims by those affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that began in Faulkner County on April 27 must be filed by Monday.

To be eligible, residents must have worked or have been scheduled to work in the disaster area, but because of the disaster, they no longer have a job, a place to work in the area or couldn't get to their place of work because of the damage.

Victims also may qualify if they can't work because of a disaster-related injury or illness or if they've become the head of household and need employment because the head of the household died as a result of the disaster.
