A boating collision in Garland County led to the death of one of the boat's passengers, officials said.

The two boats ran into each other a little before midnight Saturday on Lake Hamilton, resulting in one fatality, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officials said. The accident occurred near Smyly's Crab Shack.

No other injuries have been reported.

Officials are still trying to contact the family of the victim and are not releasing any names at this time.

    I'm just guessing but I'll wager that alcohol was involved. That's a dangerous lake during daylight hours.

    BUI checkpoints need to be scheduled each weekend and on random days at Lake Hamilton. It's unsafe. Another issue is the lack of boating safety classes nor instruction videos at the boat rental facilities.

    Unfortunately, yes, it was a drunk.
    Fortunately, he was the one killed, not anyone else.
