NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Candidates in Arkansas' heated races for governor and the U.S. Senate are criss-crossing the state as they make their closing arguments to voters on the eve of the midterm election.
Republican Senate hopeful Rep. Tom Cotton, gubernatorial candidate Asa Hutchinson and other GOP nominees rallied supporters Monday at Burns Park in North Little Rock. They sought help with get-out-the-vote efforts for Tuesday's election.
The candidates also rallied in Fort Smith earlier Monday and planned to visit Jonesboro on Monday evening.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor had stops set planned for Fayetteville, Jonesboro, El Dorado and Little Rock, while gubernatorial candidate Mike Ross was going to those cities plus Harrison and Pine Bluff.
Election officials have predicted that 51 percent of the state's 1.7 million registered voters will cast a ballot.
