As he plowed through nearly impenetrable cactus, Rick remained focused on a serrated ridge in the distance.
Alone in Texas’ vast desert, Cathy Frye clung to life and her memories of home.
The three ridges that played into the search of Cathy Frye when she was lost in Big Bend Ranch State Park Last October. She was found beneath the taller one (center), her husband Rick McFarland thought she was beneath the one to the left of the center one. The ridge on the left is the one where McFarland spotted a vehicle in the trailhead parking lot (from which this photo was taken) after he stood up from the rock he took refuge behind from the sun up to continue his attempt to get help. This photo was taken in Nov. 13.
