Kelli Marks

Where I live: I live in the Sienna Lake neighborhood of southwest Little Rock with my husband, Brad, and our two dogs, Presley and Phoebe.

Occupation: I am a baker and own Sweet Love Bakery, which is a few doors down from Cantrell Gallery on Cantrell Road. We just celebrated our third anniversary last month, and I am happy to say that business is good.

My favorite space is: My kitchen.

Why? Well, I'm a baker. When we built our house in 2010, I was still baking at home. I have a granite island that is 11 feet long, which is great for rolling out large quantities of fondant and gives me space for creating cake designs. The kitchen, dining room and great room are about 1,100 square feet of open space. I can work on cakes and cookies at the island and still enjoy watching television with Brad. I love our combination of dark and light cabinets and the contrasting granite. We took part of an entertainment center and created a fantastic focal feature around our stove.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Originally we wanted marble counters, but the potential to transfer colored dye from a fondant to white marble from fondant worried us and we installed granite. Now that I have the bakery kitchen as my work space, we could change to marble.
