The merger was approved in January by the boards of both ASU and Mid-South Community College.

Officials have said ASU will benefit from Mid-South's workforce training programs and Mid-South would benefit from Arkansas State's support for funding workforce training programs

ASU Mid-South has about 2,000 students and the ASU System now has about 23,000 students at campuses statewide.
