Olsen returns to UAMS as pharmacy school dean

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has named previous faculty member Keith M. Olsen the new College of Pharmacy dean, university officials announced Friday.

Olsen will leave his current position as chair of the department of pharmacy practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy and join the faculty in his new position on or before Nov. 1, the university said in a statement.

He replaces Stephanie Gardner, who became the UAMS provost and chief academic officer last Wednesday. Kathryn Neill, the assistant dean and associate professor in the College of Pharmacy, will serve as the interim dean until Olsen takes his new post.

Olsen previously worked for the university as an associate professor and director of the clinical pharmacokinetic laboratory and monitoring service in the UAMS College of Pharmacy, according to the statement. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
