An Bauxite man wanted in a domestic disturbance was arrested Thursday in Kentucky after a 20-mile chase, authorities say.

Deputies were dispatched to a Bauxite address early Thursday morning where the victim said Trent Tyrone Smith "had physically assaulted him/her with a weapon, and attempted to kill him/her by running him/her over with a vehicle," Saline County sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Jeff Silk said in a news release. The victim, whose name was not released, had non life-threatening injuries, the release states.

Investigators learned that Smith "had made comments that he would not be taken alive by police," so deputies sent Smith's information to other police agencies, Silk said.

Police officers in Munfordville, Ky., saw Smith driving a red Dodge Dart in their jurisdiction and attempted to stop him, the release states. When Smith continued driving, Kentucky State Police joined the chase, Silk said.

Kentucky State Police Sgt. Mark Gillingham said troopers attempted twice to use spike strips to stop Smith's vehicle on Interstate 65. Officers involved in the 20-mile chase exceeded speeds of 120 miles per hour, Gillingham said.

When Smith avoided one set of the spike strips, Gillingham said he "intentionally attempted to hit two troopers with his speeding vehicle."

A trooper was able to immobilize Smith's vehicle and ended the chase, Munfordville Police Chief Greg Atwell said. Kentucky State Police arrested Smith and charged him with two counts of attempted murder involving a police officer, along with "numerous" traffic violations, Silk said.

Smith will face those charges in Kentucky before being extradited to Arkansas to face charges from the domestic disturbance including two counts of second-degree attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threatening and one count of domestic battery, the release states.
