Authorities are investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl found unresponsive Wednesday in a washing machine, police said.
In a news release, Arkansas State Police said special agents of the agency's Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the girl's death.
The girl was found unresponsive in a washing machine at a Hampton home about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hampton Police Chief Cole Knoedl said.
The child was pronounced dead one hour later at an El Dorado hospital, state police said.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, Knoedl said, and authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy. The girl's body is now at the state Crime Lab.
Additional details were not immediately available, and an investigation is ongoing.
