LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says a record alligator of nearly 14 feet in length is among the 30 alligators taken during the first segment of the state's alligator season.

The commission said Wednesday that a 13-foot, 10-inch gator was taken along the lower Arkansas River by James Pelt of Camden.

In all, the alligators taken by hunters ranged from 6 feet and one-half-inch to the record-sized gator.

The season ran from Sept. 18-Sept. 21 with a second season scheduled for Friday through Monday. Hunting is allowed from 30 minutes after sunset Friday until 30 minutes before sunrise Monday.
