Two people were injured just before noon Monday in a shooting outside an apartment complex in Pine Bluff, a spokesman for the Pine Bluff Police Department said.

Wesley Evans, 19, was returning to his room at Aikman Apartments on 4511 S. Main St. when two black men in a white vehicle followed him into the complex, spokesman David Price said. The men confronted Evans, then shot him in the upper body. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for surgery.

Another resident, 51-year-old Delona Rhoades, was hit in the hand by a stray bullet during the confrontation, according to a news release from the police department. She was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing, and police said they are working to determine a motive.
