A Little Rock police officer shot in the shoulder during an exchange of gunfire at a Red Lobster Saturday night has been released from the hospital and a teen suspect who was shot is in serious condition, authorities said Sunday.
One other suspect who was not injured, meanwhile, has been arrested.
Speaking at a news conference at department headquarters, Little Rock Police Department Chief Kenton Buckner identified the officer as 39-year-old Shawn Bakr. Buckner said Bakr, who was working off-duty at the Red Lobster at Markham Street and Rodney Parham Road, interrupted a robbery involving three assailants and was shot in the shoulder in an exchange of gunfire that appears to have occurred both inside and outside the business.
The teen, whose name was not released, remained in serious condition, Buckner said. He said no determination has been made, but the youth is likely to face adult charges.
Buckner also said Sunday that a "person of interest" was taken into custody Sunday morning and was being questioned. Police later Sunday identified that person as 20-year-old Troy Williams Jr. of Cabot and said he had been arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, criminal attempt to commit capital murder, first-degree battery and six counts of aggravated assault.
Police said Williams was being held without bail, though he was not yet listed as an inmate at the Pulaski County jail.
A third person is also being sought, though no information about that person was released.
Bakr is on administrative leave pending a full investigation into the shooting. Buckner said he is expected to make a "full recovery."
