by Arkansas Democrat-Gazette | July 30, 2016 at 2:13 a.m.

One person died Thursday in a Garland County crash, and another died from a crash on Interstate 40 earlier this week, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police.

A 65-year-old man died Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 70 west of Pearcy Road, according to a police report.

Arlis Fisher of Bonnerdale was driving west about 12:30 p.m. when an eastbound 2010 Chevrolet crossed the centerline and struck his vehicle, police said.

The Chevrolet driver, Jared Warford, 24, of Benton was injured in the crash, and Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

A Monday crash on I-40 near the I-440 junction left one person dead and another injured, according to a report released Friday.

John Roark, 81, of Lonoke died after he crashed into the back of a 2016 Subaru that was breaking for a stopped vehicle on the highway, police said.

Roark, who was driving a 2006 Ford, hit the Subaru with little to no breaking, police said.

The Subaru driver, Stacy Niese, 28, of Little Rock was injured in the crash.

Police said the weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of both crashes.
