PINE BLUFF -- Former Arkansas lawmaker Jerry Taylor has died after battling a rare illness. He was 78.
Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home said Taylor died Saturday after battling progressive supranuclear palsy, which is a rare, incurable brain disorder.
Taylor served as a state representative for four years and as a state senator for eight years, representing the Pine Bluff area. He also served as mayor of Pine Bluff for eight years and as a city councilman for 12 years.
Taylor's obituary says he retired in December 2012, having never lost an election.
