A head-on crash in Sharp County about 4 p.m. Thursday resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to four people, including three minors, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

State police said the accident occurred when the driver of a 2012 Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound on U.S. 167 north of Cave City crossed the highway’s centerline and struck a 2002 Dodge Durango traveling south.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Billie Jo Horn, 43, of Horseshoe Bend, was killed in the crash, authorities said.

Virginia Weathers, 59, of Thayer, Mo., was driving the Dodge, according to state police. She and three passengers — two boys and one girl — were injured.

The report states that those injured were taken to White River Medical Center in Batesville and Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as clear and dry.

Horn’s death was the 97th reported on an Arkansas road so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.
