Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Friday that Alison Williams, his director of state and federal relations in Washington, D.C., will take over as his new chief of staff beginning June 1.

“I am humbled and excited by this incredible opportunity," Williams said in a statement. "I am ready to return to the Natural State and lead Gov. Hutchinson’s outstanding team."

Williams will replace Michael Lamoureux, who announced his departure May 2 and said he would be pursuing a job in his hometown of Russellville.

Williams, a graduate of Cabot High School and the University of Arkansas, has served in the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.

“She is a problem-solver, loves Arkansas and goes above and beyond in her work," Hutchinson said in a statement.
