Tammy Lord

Where I live: west Little Rock

Occupation: domestic goddess, mom

My favorite space is: our dining room.

Why? Our house faces east, so the morning sunlight floods the room and is always a beautiful start to the day. I find myself watching my daughter walk to the bus stop in the morning from the dining room windows and watching her walk home in the afternoon from the same windows. All the comings and goings of neighbors, family and friends are viewed from the dining room. Our dog spends most of his day lying on the rug and staring out the windows and "protecting" us from the mailman and UPS man. I absolutely love the beautiful piece of art hanging on the wall by local artist Catherine Rodgers and the long-sought-after custom-made table by a Brooklyn artist. Every piece of furniture in this room makes me happy. But the best part of this room by far is all the laughter that these walls have absorbed. Life stories and glasses of wine have been spilled in this room. We have hosted friends, family and neighbors for holiday meals, barbecues, business dinners and just-chillin' weekend night meals. It's just positively the best room in our home.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Have more parties!
