UALR lauds '94 graduate at alumni celebration lunch

Candice Hunter Corby, a 1994 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and president of Cobra Legal Solutions LLC of Austin, Texas, had a hard time holding back the tears during her acceptance speech.

"Again, I'm my father's daughter," she said, after expressing a wish that her whole corporate team could have been present to see her get the award, rather than looking at it from India on Facebook Live.

Corby was given her honors during the Awards Luncheon Celebration hosted by the UALR Alumni Association and the university's Foundation Fund Board. The event took place May 12 in the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center, with Holly Rose, president of the alumni board, serving as master of ceremonies.

Christian O'Neal, vice chancellor of university advancement, welcomed guests, who dined on Arkansas smokehouse chicken salad. Troy Wells, chief executive officer of Baptist Health, gave a sponsor message.

Also receiving kudos were Rebecca Ward with the Presidents Award and new graduate Connor Donovan with the Edward L. Whitbeck Memorial Award. Each honoree was introduced via video.
