Jacksonville man killed in shooting

A 25-year-old Jacksonville resident has been identified as the man killed in a shooting in central Arkansas over the weekend.

The slaying happened south of Jacksonville, near the intersection of Henderson Road and East Valentine Road, said Lt. Matt Kornas, a spokesman for the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies arrived about 12:45 a.m. Sunday and found a man, later identified as Christon Anderson of Jacksonville, unresponsive in a vacant lot, according to a statement Monday from the agency.

Anderson had been shot in the face, Kornas said.

His body was taken to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy.

Authorities said Monday that they had not identified a suspect in the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
