At least five people have been killed in accidents on state roads since Friday, according to preliminary reports from Arkansas State Police.
A 43-year-old Marion County woman died late Sunday after her vehicle left the road and overturned in Boone County, according to a state police report.
About 6:15 p.m., Laurie McMillan of Peel was driving north on Arkansas 7 about 2½ miles north of Harrison when her 2005 Chevrolet left the highway on a curve, state police said.
The vehicle then struck a culvert and overturned, and McMillan suffered fatal injuries, according to the report.
The weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of the crash, state police said.
A 56-year-old Conway man died Saturday evening when the truck he was driving veered off the road and he was partially ejected, state police said.
According to a report, the crash happened about 6 p.m. as Steven Allen Robertson was driving a 1991 GMC Topkick south on Clinton Road near Jennifer Lane, which is east of Lake Conway in Faulkner County.
The truck "veered off the west side of the roadway," spun around into a ditch and rolled onto its driver's side, the report said, noting Robertson was "partially ejected out the driver's door window."
Robertson suffered fatal injuries, according to the report. No one else was listed as being hurt.
Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.
A 54-year-old Ouachita County man died after he was thrown from a motorcycle early Saturday, according to a state police report.
The crash happened shortly after 12:15 a.m. Scott Jerome Carroll of Louann was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle south on Arkansas 7 in Ouachita County when he drove off the road, hit an embankment and went airborne, state police said.
Carroll was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, according to the report.
It was rainy and the road was wet at the time of the crash, state police said.
Authorities are working to identify a wrong-way driver who also died early Saturday in a fiery crash on Interstate 30 in Little Rock.
State police reported a 1999 Lincoln was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-30 near Interstate 530 when the vehicle ran off the highway and hit a tree. It happened about 1:20 a.m.
The Lincoln then caught fire, burning "the vehicle and driver completely," according to the report.
The document listed the driver as "John Doe" and said the coroner's office will work to identify him.
No other injuries were reported.
The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash, state police said.
A 62-year-old Waldron man died in Sebastian County after his vehicle crossed the centerline and drove into oncoming traffic late Friday, according to a state police report.
It happened as James Hicks was driving a 1996 Chevrolet east on Arkansas 10 about 25 miles south of Fort Smith, state police said. About 7:20 p.m., his vehicle crossed the centerline and traveled into the eastbound lane, striking a 2000 Ford and a 2014 Ford, according to the report.
Hicks suffered fatal injuries.
Darlene Brownfield, 70, of Greenwood, who was driving the 2014 Ford, was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, according to the report.
Conditions were said to be clear and dry at the time of the crash.
