Truck driver killed in rollover crash on I-30 in Arkansas

A 46-year-old man was killed early Thursday after the 18-wheeler he was driving crashed into trees and rolled off Interstate 30 in Arkansas, state police said.

About 4 a.m., Richard Wheeler Jr. of Sparta, Mich., was driving west on the road in a 2013 Freightliner, according to a preliminary crash report.

Near the the town of Friendship in Hot Spring County, the truck reportedly left the road, striking trees and rolling over on its side before coming to a rest.

Conditions were said to be clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

At least 435 people have died in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary state police data.
