A Northwest Arkansas woman who was driving while intoxicated was arrested after she hit a cyclist with her car Sunday, police said.
Shortly after 5 p.m., Springdale Police Department officers responded to a crash involving a car and a bicycle near the intersection of Elm Springs and Oak Grove, according to an arrest report.
Authorities reportedly found an injured cyclist bleeding from "several parts of his body," including his head. He was unable to stand up for an extended amount of time, an officer noted.
In the car was 39-year-old Jessica Lynn Galyean of Springdale, who told police that she struck the cyclist while turning into a driveway, the report stated.
According to police, Galyean was unable to provide a license and registration and smelled of alcohol. She had watery bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, the report said, and she failed a sobriety test.
The cyclist was reportedly transported to Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers for stitches and a head scan.
Galyean is charged with second-degree battery, driving while intoxicated, careless prohibited driving and driving on a suspended license without proof of insurance, authorities say.
The 39-year-old was being held in lieu of $2,500 bond at the Washington County jail as of Monday afternoon, records show. She is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
