Driver wounded, car hits Little Rock motel

A victim of gunfire crashed a vehicle into a Little Rock motel room shortly after being shot late Sunday, police said.

Officers responded around 11 p.m. to reports of an accident with injury and shots fired at 10524 W. Markham St., the address for a Motel 6 just east of Interstate 430.

After being shot, 32-year-old Ricky Turner of Little Rock crashed a vehicle into a room window at the motel, two witnesses inside told authorities.

Each witness reported hearing gunshots but did not see the shooting.

Officer Steve Moore, a Little Rock Police Department spokesman, said Turner is believed to have lost control of a 2011 Dodge Challenger shortly after being shot.

Turner then ran a short distance west to the Doublebee's convenience store at 10724 W. Markham St., according to a police report.

Officers tried to find Turner shortly after the shooting and eventually learned that he was at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, the report states.

Turner's injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
