Authorities: Arkansan pronounced dead after police called to home; woman taken into custody

Arkansas State Police will help in the investigation of an overnight homicide, the state agency said Tuesday.

State police officials were contacted at 8 a.m. by the Rockport Police Department, according to a news release.

Rockport officers were reportedly sent on a domestic disturbance call to a home in the 300 block of West Butterfield Cutoff Road on Monday night. At the home, police found a resident, 29-year-old Jaraad Hasan, who was pronounced dead, the release said.

The release did not state the manner or cause of Hasan's death.

A 28 year-old woman living at the residence was taken into custody, according to the agency.

State police special agents have started reviewing statements and evidence collected by Rockport officers. The file will be sent to the Hot Spring County prosecuting attorney to determine whether any criminal charges should be filed, the release said.
