Police investigating 2nd sexual assault report at University of Central Arkansas in 2 weeks

Police at the University of Central Arkansas are investigating another reported sexual assault on campus this academic year.

The UCA Police Department responded around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report that a student had been sexually assaulted by a classmate, according to a statement from Lt. Brad Moore.

Moore said the sexual assault happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday at a residence hall for upperclassmen honors students on the university’s campus in Conway.

According to a daily crime log, an investigation into the rape — the second reported during the 2017-18 academic year, which began late last month — remains active.

On Sept. 8, a rape was reported at a different UCA residence hall. The victim, an 18-year-old student, said she was sexually assaulted by a classmate who had walked her back to her dorm from a party at the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity house.

Michael Andrew Zeher, 18, of Bentonville was arrested on a charge of rape in that investigation. He has pleaded not guilty and is set to appear in Faulkner County Circuit Court on Oct. 16.

A request for more information regarding Tuesday's reported sexual assault was not immediately returned.
