Man accused in tailgaters assault

A Beebe man was arrested Sunday after pointing a gun at Arkansas Razorback tailgaters on Oct. 13, according to court documents.

Three men reported seeing Andrew Catlett, 29, speed through a crowded tailgating area at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock -- almost hitting someone -- before coming to a stop, an affidavit for Catlett's arrest said. When the 2005 Honda Accord that Catlett was driving came to a stop, one of the tailgaters shut the car's open trunk, which prompted Catlett to get out and ask why the man struck his car, the affidavit said.

When the man explained that he was closing Catlett's trunk, Catlett cocked a handgun and pointed it at the three men before getting back in the car and speeding away, the affidavit said.

The men recorded Catlett's license plate and positively identified him in photo lineup, court documents said.

Officers arrested Catlett on Sunday on three charges of aggravated assault and transported him to the Pulaski County jail. Catlett was no longer listed on the jail's roster as of Wednesday.

Police: Baby safe, car thief arrested

A man who stole a black Audi Q5 with an infant in the back seat, set the child out on the ground a few blocks away and was arrested in the same area Wednesday evening, a police spokesman said.

Lt. Michael Ford said the infant was not hurt when the man stole the SUV and took it for a brief joy ride.

The Audi, with the child inside, was reported missing about 5:30 p.m., Ford said. The child was found nearby still in a car seat. Police arrested a suspect in the case by 6 p.m., but did not publicly identify him, Ford said.

Investigators were still working Wednesday night at the scene in the area of 12000 Stagecoach Road.
