Where I live: My husband, Nate, and I live in Hillcrest with our dog, Theo. Our kids are all off in college, grad school or professional jobs.

Occupation: I am a third-grade teacher in the Little Rock School District. I've been teaching for 27 years. I'm also an adjunct graduate reading professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

My favorite space is: our screened porch. Nate and I built it in 2017.

Why? I love entertaining on the porch during nice weather. Decorating it with each season and for Christmas is fun. My son, Aidan, thinks it looks like a space you'd find at the beach. I grew up in Florida and sitting out there reminds me of the Gulf Coast a bit. Before the leaves fall, the porch also has a treehouse feel because it's perched high off the ground. We've had dinner parties, fundraisers and small gatherings with close friends. I spend lots of "work" time on the porch grading papers and planning lessons. It's a versatile space.

If I could make one improvement to this space, I would: add a swinging daybed. There's already a light above the space on one side. I just need to decide on a final plan and have one built!
