Youth arrested in attempted bank robbery in El Dorado

EL DORADO -- A juvenile was arrested Wednesday, accused of attempted aggravated robbery and fleeing the scene after a robbery attempt at the First Financial Bank branch on East Main Street in El Dorado.

Capt. Kevin Holt, public information officer for the El Dorado Police Department, said law enforcement officers were alerted around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday to a person standing outside the doors of the bank. The person had a bandanna wrapped around his face.

Holt said police had already been notified by the time the youth entered the bank. The youth fled as police began arriving.

Holt said the youth was arrested on Omega Street, across from the bank.

The investigation is ongoing, Holt said, adding that no money was stolen from the bank.

The same First Financial Bank branch was previously robbed in December 2011, when robbers approached two bank employees as they were refilling an ATM.
