Police: Little Rock man shoots 2 people after argument in restaurant

A Little Rock man walked into a restaurant Saturday afternoon, began arguing with a man inside and then shot two people, an arrest report said.

Marcus Collier Sr., 45, entered Calvin's Restaurant and Lounge on Bond Avenue just before the shooting, the report said. Collier drew a firearm as the fight escalated and shot a man, the report said. He then shot a woman in her foot, officers reported.

The extent of the man's injuries was not listed, but officers said the bullet grazed the woman's foot.

Officers arrested Collier on charges of aggravated assault, possession of firearms by certain persons and two counts of first-degree battery, an arrest report said.

Collier was in the Pulaski County jail without bail as of Saturday night.

Woman: Shot in face while in NLR

A woman was shot in the face in North Little Rock early Thursday, leaving a bullet lodged underneath her skin, a police report said.

Ashley Griffin, 25, of Little Rock was waiting for a friend to pick her up about 4 a.m. near 2600 W. Pershing Blvd. when a dark car pulled up and the man inside asked if she needed a ride, according to the report.

Griffin said no, the report said. As the car pulled away, another man began yelling to stop the car and when Griffin turned to look at the man, he fired two to three shots at the car, at least one of which hit Griffin in the face, police said.

Griffin told officers that the shooter headed toward some apartments, and a few moments later her friend arrived to pick her up. Once inside the car, Griffin realized that she'd been shot, the report said.

The victim's friend drove her to southwest Little Rock, where Griffin called 911, officers reported.

Paramedics transported Griffin to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, and shortly after officers learned that a small-caliber bullet was lodged under the skin on Griffin's cheekbone, the report said.

There was gunshot residue around the wound, indicating that Griffin had been shot at close range, according to authorities. Officers said Griffin's injuries were not considered life-threatening.

According to the report, officers found no blood, shell casings or other evidence of a shooting at the address Griffin gave police.

Bar guard request answered with fist

A bar security guard was punched in the mouth Saturday morning after he asked a Maumelle man to leave Midtown Billiards, an arrest report said.

Officers said a security guard at Midtown Billiards in Little Rock asked Spencer Parks Cuffman, 33, to put down his beer and leave just before 3 a.m. Instead, Cuffman struck the guard in the face.

Police said Cuffman was arrested cursing and yelling. He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and second-degree assault.

Cuffman was in the Pulaski County jail as of Saturday night with no bail set.

Police: Man said he started LR fire

A Mountainburg man who was seen leaving a burning house in Little Rock "spontaneously uttered" that he had set the fire, an arrest report said.

The Little Rock Fire Department responded to a house fire about 1 a.m. Saturday at 1023 South Rock St., the report said. A Little Rock police officer passing by said he saw smoke coming from the house and saw Gerald Lee Pardue, 44, walking away, the report said.

The officer said Pardue told him he'd set the fire under the house to keep warm and that the flames got out of control, according to the report.

Officers arrested Pardue on charges of reckless burning and failure to control a fire.
